"Thanks to a Tarjimly volunteer interpreter, the aid worker could clear up this miscommunication in minutes and be on their way to deliver needed items to the right families."
An NGO reached out to families to record requests for needed items during the pandemic. One family had asked for activities for their children, but the aid worker delivering the items could not find their home and wanted to contact them to see if they had the correct address. Because the aid worker was not Arabic-speaking, they could not effectively communicate with the family on their own. They decided to use Tarjimly to connect with a volunteer interpreter who could help confirm the address. The aid worker used Tarjimly’s Conference Calling feature to connect with an interpreter and add the family to the same call. The aid worker explained to the family that they were making deliveries and said they had a box of toys and food for the family. The interpreter relayed this to the family and was able to share the correct address with the aid worker. Thanks to a Tarjimly volunteer interpreter, the aid worker was able to reach the family and deliver the much needed items.
This isn't the story of one refugee camp. Thousands of vulnerable individuals and families are left without care due to language barriers. When an aid worker's lack of ability to communicate hinders their ability to accommodate and assist refugees, an organization's ability to impact real change is limited. Tarjimly is here to bridge that divide, and to provide on-demand translation services for aid workers, whenever and where ever they may be.
