Freelance Mobile App QA Tester

Tarjimly is a 501c3 tech nonprofit established in 2017 with a mission to eliminate language barriers for refugees, immigrants, and humanitarians. We accomplish this through our Tarjimly mobile platform, connecting individuals with a vast network of 60,000+ community translators for on-demand language support, in addition to providing a series of professional interpretation and translation services. Our team is global, passionate, and operates entirely remotely, dedicated to making a significant impact in the lives of those we serve.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Mobile App QA Tester to join our team. In this role, you will rigorously test new features for Tarjimly’s mobile app and web paltform, identify and document complex issues, and help ensure a seamless experience for our diverse users—including refugees, humanitarian workers, and NGOs. You will work closely with developers and product managers to validate releases, enforce quality standards, and enhance the stability and performance of our platform.

Employment Details‍

• Contract-based freelance role
• $3 - $6 per hour
• Fully remote
• We have work consistently available on a weekly basis. Hours may increase over time depending on performance. Ideally looking for long-term contract.

• Perform comprehensive testing for new features and updates on Tarjimly’s mobile app (iOS, Android & Web), ensuring high-quality releases.
• Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Conduct functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using bug-tracking tools
• Perform API testing to validate backend integrations.
• Validate UI/UX design consistency and accessibility across various devices and operating systems.
• Analyze test results, generate reports, and provide actionable insights to improve product quality.
• Work with developers to ensure proper debugging and resolution of complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with best practices in security, usability, and mobile app performance optimization.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in mobile app QA testing, preferably within mission-driven or tech nonprofit environments.
• Strong proficiency in test automation tools
• Hands-on experience with performance testing tools.
• Familiarity with API testing tools and ability to validate API responses effectively.
• Experience writing SQL queries for data validation and backend testing.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript) for automated testing.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and collaborate effectively with distributed teams.

Desirable:

• Experience with security testing and penetration testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Previous experience in the humanitarian or nonprofit sector.
